Same time of day/situation, same bullet trap. In fact, I just tested them again a little while ago. Like I said earlier, I have a few boxes of the regular Colibri rounds, and I've test fired them into a homemade bullet trap in the back yard, in the daytime when most all of my neighbors are at work. Fortunately, he's a gun owner, too, and has been a good neighbor for decades, so once he knew it was me dispatching a possum, he was cool with it.īut I want a quieter round. Our neighbor across the street was sitting on his porch and heard the shots. I don't remember what ammo I had loaded in it at the time (probably either Super X or Mini Mags), but it wasn't quiet. She chased it to the compost bin, and there I dispatched it with two shots from my Wrangler Birdshead. One night a month or two ago, our dog once again alerted us to the presence of a possum near the chicken coop. Stabbing it to death worked, but it was more of an up close combat situation than I want to have to tackle again. I asked my wife to bring me something from the tool shed to use as a bludgeoning tool, and she came back with a pitchfork. When we came and interrupted its kill, the varmit wedged itself underneath the nesting boxes and proceeded to his at us. Once a few years ago our dog Bella alerted us to a problem in the coop, and we came out to find a possum in the coop. 22 when we dispatched them.īack to the present and here in town, we've yet to catch a racoon in our coop or aviary, but we've had some possums kill chickens. I grew up on a farm, and we set traps for possums and shot 'em with a. The hawks I can't do much about, but the racoons, possums and rats I dispatch if I can. The latter enterprise means that we also deal with varmits. I live within the city limits, but my wife and I are what we lovingly call "prepsteaders." We do as much gardening as we can in our yard, and we keep chickens and quail. Just revisiting/qualifying my intent in starting this thread. Does anybody have a recommendation of a good decibel meter app for an iPhone? I already have my follow up question if no one's done such a decibel rating test on Colibri ammo. Has anyone done that? Bonus points if it was tested out of a Wrangler, but I'll take readings done through a Mark IV, Bearcat, Single Six, SR22 or pretty much any. Winchester Super X, 92db.īut again, I'm wanting such info on the Colibri ammo. For examples of the readings they got, CCI Standard, 97db. 22lr ammo, but they didn't test the Colibri rounds. I did find one YT video that tested decibel levels for a bunch of different. Seems like that info should be of concern to anyone interested in the rounds. I've tried to find that info searching the Interwebs and YouTube, but nobody seems to have done that test on these rounds, which frankly I find a little surprising. I have a few boxes of the stuff, and I've test fired them into a makeshift backyard bullet trap a few times, But I don't have a decibel meter, or even such an app on my phone. I'm wondering if anybody here has some readings on the the Aguila brand Colibri rounds? Not the Super Colibri rounds, mind you, the regular ones, 20 gr projectile, powderless case, advertised at 420 fps.
